Celebrities are Mad about Twitter

I would have to say that Twitter has received more recognition and media attention within the past few months than in the entire few years that they’ve even existed. Turn on your TV and you’ll find either the news talking about Twitter or catch the ladies on the View asking you to follow Barbara Walters.

The latest celeb to go “twitter crazy” has been Ellen Degeneres, and already today she’s at almost 28,000 followers and has only been posting tweets since March 10th! Celebrities are recognizing the power of Twitter and how it easily and quickly increases their fan base, not to mention keep their existing base foaming at the mouth for up to the second updates form their favorite star.

So what celebs are now on Twitter and what are they saying about it?

- Ellen loves it and today she posted a tweet asking for as many followers as she can get before going on Jay Leno tonight. We’re keeping track.

- Ellen recently had Pdiddy a.k.a puffy, a.k.a puff daddy, a.k.a shaun combs on the show and he talks about how he’s been able to reach 100,000 followers (see the video on our site sidebar)

- The View is always talking about twitter, but who wants to follow Barbara anyway? ahh.

- All of the news channels have Twitter accounts and get up to the second responses from viewers and share them on the news.

- John Stewart has been hilariously bangin on Twitter through videos and commentary

- Shaq LOVES to tweet and is probably one of the more friendly Twitter celebs out there. he’s been posting pics daily, shares his everyday life, and will even respond to you if you’re worthy enough. hehe.

- MCHammer is on Twitter, but many of his tweets seem to be quotes or passionate messages to the world. Yesterday he got after his son for Tweeting in his account. The son asked everyone to follow him. haha. funny.

- We follow Lance Armstrong and he seems to love sharing daily life stuff. Very down to earth family man. Loves biking too by the way.

The list of celebs using this “not so new” communication tool is endless. There’s even a site devoted to celebrities and their use of twitter. CelebritiesUsingTwitter.com is right around the corner and there you can find names such as Ashton Kutcher, Tina Fey, Demi Moore, Kevin Smith, and Taylor Swift. Not sure how much they keep up with the site though so if it’s outdated, don’t hate on us.
