Everything is BIG in Omaha

Everything is BIG in Omaha

Tech and Creative conferences are popping up all over the place and many of them go down on either the East or West coast.  The South hosts one of the largest “teach conferences” which we know as SXSW in Austin,Tx, but how often do you hear of a big event taking place up north in the midwest?  Not very often. This rarity is what makes “BIG OMAHA” an event that needs to be on your calendar.  It takes place May 7 & 8th in Omaha, Nebraska and to say the least, and its going to be what the title suggests . . “BIG”.

We first found out about BO from our new friends at SWINDLR.com while they were visiting SXSW.  The branding alone makes you want to find out more and i’m not sure how they did it, but visiting their site makes me want to now purchase a cow.  I’d love to have a cow to go cruisin on through the neighborhood, or bunjy jump off of.  If I can make it to the event, I’ll definitely sign up to do some base jumping off of one of the large cows roaming Nebraska.

This conference / event has secured some very innovative industry players and creatives such as Gary Vaynerchuck with Wine Library TV, Jason Fried who was one of the spearheaders of the development of Basecamp, and Jeffrey Kalmikoff, CCO of Skinny Corp, the creators of the multi-million dollar tshirt business known as Threadless (we submitted a shirt design once to these guys, but it barely missed the cut.  We ended up printing it ourselves.  Check it out here)

Jeff Slobotski and Dusty Davidson with Brightmix are the guys behind Big Omaha, who are both determined to mold Omaha and the Midwest into a wealth of talented and entrepreneurial minds.  Right now the early daredevil registration is $199, but you need to sign up before April 25th.
