Myspace is still around?

Myspace is still around?

This week Myspace made a slight little change to their branding by removing their infamous tag line “a place for friends”.  This has been their signature from the beginning of Myspace time, but with many of the other interface changes that we’ve seen them do over the past several months, it seemed to only be the next step as they work to recruit more users as well as retain what they have.

It’s no secret that Myspace has taken a back seat to the simplicity that is Facebook, and in an effort not to pigeon hole themselves, they felt it was best to keep things simple and be known simply as “Myspace”.  They of course serve as a tool for musicians and a huge video source, so it’s really not strictly a place to “meet friends” anymore.  With that said, maybe it was a good move.  However, TechCrunch.com reports that they contacted Myspace about this and their response was one of “what are you talking about?”.  ha, funny.

I’ll admit, I still have two Myspace accounts that are active, but with most of my time now being spent on Twitter and Facebook, i have to remind myself that I have those accounts.  In fact, I just remembered right now, as I was typing, that one of my accounts hasn’t been checked for months.  I’ll check it right now.  brb . . . . . . . wow, I had 12 friend requests, a few comments, and a bunch of junk game invites.  I’ll check it again in a couple of months.

What about you?  Are you a former Myspace junkie gone Facebooked?  If you had to give Myspace a fortune cookie, what would be the message inside?  Chime in and let us know what’s up.
